Adaptive Immunity Laboratory

The Adaptive Immunity Laboratory is based within the University of Leuven Department of Microbiology, Immunology and Transplantation (Research Cluster Immunogenetics). Within the Adaptive Immunity lab, we have two major divisions: The molecular Treg team (headed by Prof. Susan Schlenner) and the primary immunodeficiencies team (headed by Prof. Stephanie Humblet-Baron). While each team has a focus on different approaches and uses different techniques, we are unified in our basic ambition to understand the factors that dictate the decision between immune activation and immune tolerance, a fundamental decision at the heart of all immune disorders.

The laboratory also manages two Core Facilities for the University of Leuven – the FACS Core and the Genome Engineering platform.
