Adaptive Immunology Lab

The Schlenner Lab is based within the Research Cluster Immunogenetics in the Department of Microbiology, Immunology and Transplantation at KU Leuven. With focus on T cells, our core ambitions are

  • to understand the factors that dictate the decision between immune activation and immune tolerance, a fundamental decision at the heart of all immune disorders,
  • to understand factor involved in immune cell differentiation,
  • to develop immunotherapeutics that target effector T cells or regulatory T cells,
  • and to develop novel as well as to improve already approved CAR-T cell therapies with biomarker discovery, validation and clinical integration.

Our lab also manages the KU Leuven flow cytometry core facility (FACS core) with an excellent technology portfolio for flow and more. Together with the FACS core, we collaborate on technical and technology projects, develop new services such as multi-technology immuneprofiling and exchange knowledge and expertise for mutual benefit.
